MY STUDENTS ARE MY PASSION
I have more than twenty years experience as an educational consultant for public and independent students in Maryland and am excited to apply my expertise in Massachusetts. My M.Ed. from Loyola unlocked my passion for unlocking academic success for students with learning differences K-higher ed.
As a Reading and Learning Specialist, with certifications in Orton Gillingham, Wilson, PhonoGraphix and more, I enjoy identifying educational gaps and closing them with customized academic coaching sessions. Working with students diagnosed with dyslexia, ADHD and executive function disabilities tap my areas of expertise. My joy comes when students are academically independent and that happens at different times for everyone.
Testimonial: Mrs. McGregor changed my entire perspective on school. Before I met her in seventh grade, after transferring schools, I hated it. I struggled to keep up, constantly compared myself to my peers, and did not think I could ever do well--no matter how hard I tried. Working with her, she taught me such valuable lessons as how to effectively study, how the human brain works and can retain information, the importance of positive self-talk and thinking, how successful people think, how to properly take notes, and the value of using a planner. She altered my life dramatically, providing me with the tools needed to succeed in and out of the classroom. In high school, I continued to practice the habits I learned and, as a result, got accepted to my dream college, which my younger self would have never believed. When I struggled academically during my first year of college due to regression because of covid and having to adapt to a new school, I got back in touch with her. We set up a few meetings where we reviewed important executive functioning skills and more. Her energy is contagious, and she helped me regain my confidence and get rid of the imposter syndrome I was experiencing. Since meeting with her, my stress levels have decreased, and my grade point average has increased. I went from a 3.2 to a 3.5, including getting an A in a class ranked in the top 5 of my school's most difficult undergraduate courses.
